MEET RANDY

Hello Folks,

I want to thank you for taking time to learn more about me and the things that shape who I am. At the age of twelve years old, my parents moved to Bath County from the coalfields of Pike County. Prior to making the move, my dad, Willie T. Smith worked in the coal mines industry until he was diagnosed as having a lung disease known as black lung. My mother, Ona R. Smith worked at a grocery store named Clay's Market.

After the move to Bath County in 1983, I was enrolled at Salt Lick Elementary School to begin the seventh grade. I went on to graduate from Bath County High School in 1988. In 1987, at the age of seventeen, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ as my savior. I was married at the age of nineteen to Serena A. Leach of Salt Lick. Serena was only sixteen when we were married. Our first child Roxana was born in 1990, when I was twenty years old. We had our second child Randy II, four years later. Through the years we have lived in the Morehead area, with the exception of a couple of instances when we moved to pastor.

At the age of twenty five, I announced my call into the ministry. On May 10th, 1997, I received my ministers ordination from the Bluegrass Association of Free Will Baptists, and have obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Theology in 2001. I have ministered in revivals and regular services all across the area as an evangelist for a great number of years. My wife, son, and myself currently attend Charity Free Will Baptist Church where I serve as elder's pastor.

My wife and I have two precious grandchildren from our daughter. Kurtiss and Kadence, ages six and three are the joy of our life. Our son Randy is now twenty one years old and is married to Rebecca, who has very quickly become a precious part of our family.

I have worked in the insurance industry since 2009 as a producer. As I seek political office as State Representative in the 99th District, serving Elliott, Lewis, and Rowan Counties, I pledge to apply my life experience of working hard, doing things for the right reasons, and living by conviction to leading our state with the care and love the people deserve.
